I can't speak for other's but I do know as a disabled veteran there isn't any amount of monatary compensation that is going to resolve or replace the ability to gain employment due to health conditions directly related to my time in service. If, and the jury is still out on this subject, indivduals are allowed to be compensted more than once, I don't see the inequity apparent. It's more than a subject about strong organizations, it's also about the status of veteran's that have served our country honorably and now are unable to find employment due to service connected disability. It's about those same veteran's that were released to the public sector that worked in civil service and postal service but were unable to complete their time in the work world due to service connected disability. The laws implemented to compensate veterans, civil servants and postal service employees are in place to compensate a set amount according to rules and policies. The Congress manages the veteran's right's and compensations. This is not to imply that the service organizations don't oversee these policies, they do and it's a good thing that organizations do exist and review policies. I don't think that I am compensated enough honestly but it is certainly better than nothing, if it were left to the tax paying citizens's and politician's I most likely would be compensated less than I am. So, I'm sorry but if the government decides to compensate some of us multiple times than I say please do, we have earned every penny of compensation. My life and the quality of it is not measured by the money I recieve but it is impacted by the monies I am unable to earn for myself, my family and contributions to the society that I live in. Please do not ever think that veterans, civil servants or postal workers are in any way shape of form receiving entitlements that they do not deserve!
