I am reading Jack DuBrul "The Medusa Stone", copyright 2000. page 54 today. OK so far. As you your talking about the early books, I remembered a couple others. "I Married Adventure", Buck was the last name of the author. Then there was "Good Morning Miss Dove", don't remember the author. I met a physical therapist at one of the nursing homes I worked at. She was in her 70's and was one of the earliest physical therapists that trained at Walter Reed in Washington. She was at the start of the program. She was a very interesting lady. When I was in High School I wanted to be a Army nurse, but my school was not accredited and I did not have the Latin and Chemistry classes I needed at the time. But I made it as far as nursing when I was 40 and the admission requirements changed. Were'nt we expected to get married back then. Me too, didn't work out either, but have a wonderful daughter from it and some important life lessons. Still cool here, only one day working outside so far. There was snow on the ground, north and south of us, but only flakes here. Hard frost last night, partly cloudy today. Easier week this week, got to go. I have a cat giving me countless nudges. Have to give her a snack or attention. I usually read something during the commercials unless I've taped it and ff through the commercials. Erla
I've never read anything by Jack DuBrul. Have you read other books by him? "Good Morning Miss Dove" was written by Frances Gray Patton. A wonderful book and a great movie starring Jennifer Jones and Robert Stack.
When I read "The Healing Heart" I was so moved by how Ora Ruggles did all she could for the soldiers. It was her job to find something they could do with their damaged bodies. There was one fella that they called "Happy". He had lost both arms and legs and yet he smiled all the time. She finally was able to get him to paint baskets by using a paintbrush in his mouth.
Well, I'm off to the movies in a little while but first like you I have an animal nipping at my heels. I promised my dog Kaylee a walk before I leave so I better get to it.
Have a great day.
