After I finish Blood is the Sky by Steve Hamilton, I still have three books to read in his Alex McKnight series: Ice Run, A Stolen Season, and Night Work. I like the UP of Michigan, too. Way back in the Dark Ages when we and our children were young, we were on a cross country trip and we went to Mass in a church in Sault Sainte Marie, Michigan. When it came time for the sermon, the priest raised his hands and said "Welcome to God's country"... I'm not kidding! This really happened! Then he encouraged the visitors to the area to visit the parish lookout tower across the street which overlooks the channel lockes connecting Lake Huron with Lake Superior between Canada and the U.S. That whole area is so beautiful; we were surprised to see more Native Americans there than us "non-natives".
Very windy and cold here today.
That's interesting. I was scheduled to go to the UP as my next post in the Air Force. I had extended my enlistment trying to make up my mind whether or not to reinlist. I chose not to but now I wish I had stayed and made a career out of it. 20/20 hindsight is always better. The base was up near Canada. No one that had been there liked it.....too isolated with nothing to do. It was a small radar station.
NIGHTWORK isn't as good as the McKnight series but it's not bad. I'm really going through my book faster than I thought I would. Unfortuately I'm not sleeping very well and that's why I'm getting so much read.
It's been raining here everyday it seems. Today it's getting up around 70 and the sun is shining for a change. I'm sure my poor plants will be happy.
