Yes I did see "A Capital Fourth". I love that show. It suits me fine to see fireworks on TV. No hassle of parking, crowds and kids. Let’s see, my favorite PBS shows: Frontline, POV and Masterpiece Theater. But when the topic is politics or war, I don’t watch it. I don’t need any more stress in my life. When November comes around, I’ll vote and let the next President take care of things overseas.
On regular TV, I like CSI Miami, House and Brothers & Sisters. I don’t watch any "reality" shows. I’ll leave them to the younger generation.
I go to the library two hours each week. Usually one hour on Tuesday and one hour on Friday. I’m starting to feel like I own those books. Nobody better mistreat them! I guess I could get any book I wanted; I’ve never tried it. But I can keep a book as long as I want without paying a fine.
I’m still reading "The Book Thief". My f2f book group will be discussing the first half of it Monday. So far, everyone loves it. Whew! I’m glad when the members like my book choice. I don’t usually like theirs, though. Usually a literary prize winner meaning flowery language and hardly any plot.
That's nice to go to the library one hour twice a week. That way you don't have to "overdo" and yet can be helpful and also keep an eye out for the newer books or ones you need to find!!
How nice that at least you can keep a book as long as you want to without a fine. You deserve something for your efforts.
How often does your book group meet? Once a month? Let me know what they say about "The Book Thief". What is that book about? It's hard to recommend a book because many people have different tastes.
Literary prize winners are like Oscar winners -- I usually don't care to see the movies that get the Oscars because they are just not my "cup of tea" -- usually too deep or some subject that I don't care to suffer through.
