The only time I waited a long time to get a book from the library was when I didn't realize it was published in England, and they finally found it in a college library and got it for me "on loan"!!!
I'm usually super lucky with our county library sytem. They had to get Assisted Loving for me from another branch, and I had it in TWO DAYS!!! I picked it up today, and it really should be funny -- the cover is the "Merry Widower" father sitting on the beach in his bathing suit on a lounge chair eating a sandwich!!! This is non-fiction of both the father and son dating and "helping" each other, and I got enthused after I reviewed it briefly for my NYTIMES BOOKS UPDATE Topic!!!
I was really surprised that I couldn't find but a couple of the recommended authors from the readers here when I was at the library -- I did get their website and will see online if the books are available anywhere in the "system". Right now I have too many to read to take on that project of getting more!!!
Best of luck with your outpatient surgery.
Thanks a lot for the good wishes.
My library has really been good about getting books that I requested. Only a couple of times in about 35 or 40 years have they failed to get one. They have gotten them from other states on occassion. The two that I've been waiting on so long they're supposed to be purchasing. I think they'll eventually get them.
