I finally got a Kindle a couple of months ago and I LOVE it. I have downloaded about 300 books so far. And I have gotten all of them free. If you go to Amazon, then E books, then bestsellers, you will see 2 lists. One list consists only of free books. Some are classics; but a great many are current books. The secret is that these lists change daily. A book may be free today and big bucks tomorrow. I haven't gotten any of the current New York Times bestsllers; but I have gotten some really good books. Before the Hunger Games became so popular, my daughter got the series free this way. After you check out the main bestsellers list, check out the best sellers in each category. There will be lots of books that are not on the main list. I check the lists several times a week. You can read about each book - a description and customer reviews- before you get it. I "buy" the books that look interesting when they are free. I have read the classics Letters of a Woman Homesteader and Uncle Tom's Cabin on my Kindle. Right now I am reading a recently published book called The Secret Keeper - very entertaining. I just finished a book written by a woman who has 2 special needs children called Why Don't They Come with Instructions. I have custody of my special needs grandson and loved her humorous approach to the subject. I am still getting books from the library - those that are not available and free on Amazon - but I am not reading as many library books. I have a Kindle Touch, but wish that I had bought a Kindle Fire so that I can view illustrations in color. I bought the cheaper model because I wasn't sure if I would like it. Now I am going back to Staples to trade it in on the more expensive Fire.
