Does the synopsis sound interesting? Available at www.thebookpatch.com. Based on a true story, “Growing, Growing, Grown” tells of a woman who wanted to go back home and see once again the place where life sent her down some rough roads and some serene paths.
She goes back in her mind’s eye and drives from her suburban home in Atlanta, Georgia to the rural coal mining community in Jefferson County, Alabama where she grew up. She finds herself in the pre-dawn hours nearing her destination and as she looks around she recalls the memories of her childhood she has long harbored, memories she has both treasured and loathed. She arrives at the old homeplace at the dead end of a dirt road and spends the night alone in the abandoned house.
When she awakens, she takes a tour of the house and opens the place in her heart and mind where it has all been stowed away, not really wanting to remember, but never able to forget.
On the outside she looks and acts like a grown-up woman, but inside a child lives far beyond the years in which she should have matured.
