The AARP DC State office sponsored the PRiSM Network Employee Resource Group (LGBT and Ally staff at AARP) at an AARP table at DC Capital Pride on June 15th. We had a great time, and got an overwhelming positive response from many folks who stopped at the booth. ¶
We also gathered more than 250 signatures to the Divided We Fail initiative.¶
We understand that AARP will also have a presence at other Pride festivals this month, including: AARP Florida at Ft. Lauderdale Pride and at St. Petersburg Pride; AARP Ohio at Columbus Pride; and AARP Texas at Houston Pride (the last two cities will also include a AARP floats in those parades). ¶
Are there Pride events or activities in the communities you live in?
Living in a very, very rural area in northern Maine there's very little (none) Pride activities. When there's more people in a crowded elevator than there is in a square mile its difficult to plan anything except maybe a turkey shoot.
There are some activities down in central and southern Maine.
