It's bad enough that Bishop Robinson's prayer wasn't carried by HBO or NPR but I also heard that even though every single performer was identified onscreen when each performed but when the San Francisco Gay Mens Chorus sang behind Josh Groban, there was no ID tag for them.
I keep trying to give Obama and his "team" the benefit of the doubt when it comes to the slights against our community but it's getting harder and harder to do that.
What I want to know is where were the voices of the gays who are part of that team because it's beginning to look more and more like these incidences were planned that way all along.
What's a little "fishy" about all of this is that HBO and NPR both have strong histories of being very positive and inclusive of the GLBT community so it doesn't make sense that they, on their own initiative, would make those omissions unless someone directly asked them to do that.
BTW - HBO claimed in an email that it was the onsite producers who omitted broadcasting of Robinson and the ID tag for the Choir. Haven't heard anything from NPR yet
I agree that it was not fair to identify any of the background choirs. I believe that was the Washington DC Gay Men's Chorus is the behind Josh. I wonder if they chose not to identify any of the choruses because they would have to include the gay men's chorus. Considering that HBO has shown more than one program with definite gay themes I was surprised. Obviously the committee planning the event didn't have a problem having the Chorus participate.
