Greetings from Spring - I have another notch in my belt - I survived hurricane Ike by myself, along with my friend and dog, Sophie. All I can say is that it was scarey and I really don't want to go through it again. The whole northwest area of Houston is still without power. 49% of the company that supplies most of the county is still without power. I am on a borrowed laptop to send this on to my friends on the site. I am so fortunate that I did not have any house damage - my subdivision really suffered a lot of tree damage and hence house damage with trees on them. Our street looks like a war zone with all the debris and cut up trees gathered at the curb. I can't wait to see cable, get my phone back into service (thank God for cell phones) and back on the computer. One drives around to cool off and charge their phone with car chargers! My one daughter is scheduled to have power back on next Thursday and my area is still undetermined. They give the listing by zip codes - another usage for those codes. I am learning a lot of new terminology such as POD (point of distribution) where water and ice is given out along with a few meals and others. Another new life experience - really don't want to learn many more new things!
Would love to comment on some of the topics but that will have to wait until I am back on my own computer. Thank you for your prayers.
Ruth, so good to hear that you are okay. Stay safe and check back in when things get back to normal!
