I am 61 years old. I recently was laid off due to lack of work for the company. It was a surprise that I was the one picked. The others employees are a lot younger than me and had less seniorty.
I am finding most of the jobs I apply for online the employers never repond even when I send a follow-up letter even more than one time. Is anyone finding the same problem?
I notice some employers request your age. I don't feel that that is fair. It appears they want to know if you are over 50. Has this happened to other?.
I have also experience possible age discrimination. They appear interested in talking with in person. But when I show up they suddenly tell me the position has been taken. But then then position stll appears in the paper. What can I do about this in the future if any thing? Any suggestions. Help.
I just never dream I would be looking this long for a job and applying for some jobs that I don't even like at this age. It some days get so discourging, I don't kow if anyone else fee this way.
I would love to hear from others. So give me a hollow.
