Hello Terry and the group.. I do the carving on deer antler., and well the base part of the antler is like ivory... pure white, and so sweet to carve.. There are no 'grain lines' or problems to worry about.. It is a very strong material, .. as I have found I can carve a flower with very thin pedals, and they feel very secure, and don'[t chip or break easily. So, at times I do make very thin carvings....and just makes me look good. It is just great material to use. I also work in wood, and have to learn to worry about grains and such. - But I am like everyone else, wishing I had more time to work on projects. But have had to learn to set things aside until I had the time to make things happen. Of course, I am so thrilled when someone notices my work, and makes me 'glow'. Also wanted to ask you, if you have tried out the new power tool you got.. Give us a report. I would love to invest in one.. but have to save a lot of alum. cans!!!
