Rose-Thanks for the information. We plan to go the last week of May and stay at least through the first week of June. My daughter thinks that we can travel distances from CT to Rome with no problem but we just have to decide which of the many interesting towns/villages to visit and what B&B/Hotel/Inn to stay in. Would it be fine to maybe book 2/3 places to stay at night and then wing it at some of the other places we might stay at?
Hi...Usually I wing some of the trip but not all of it. When it comes to different cities, you need to be prepared with a place to stay. A suggestion is to always pick a place where you do get a breakfast because the European countries do not have diners or delis to go get something for breakfast. One thing that is good to look for are places that offer a full up American breakfast or buffet...I'm not talking about continental breakfast. I'm talking about a good way to start off the day breakfast so that maybe you can skip lunch or just have a gelatto and then have a nice dinner. Right now the Euro is at $1.36 which is not that bad so keep in mind it will cost you more for everything that you do. I know you want to see as much as you can in the approximate 2 weeks you will be there so try to plan out ahead of time what you want to do and try to get the most for your money. By doing that you have some type of agenda and know your up-front costs. It would be ashame to get to a town and there's no place to stay or there is no choice so do your homework ahead of time. Google is a wonderful thing!! rose
