I love to cook and bake. (I'm baking a new whole wheat bread recipe right now as we speak.) It doesn't matter if I have company or not. I treat myself like a guest! I often cook enough for 4 and freeze what I don't eat.
For the holiday, I made my favorite meal: leg of lamb with an olive oil, garlic, rosemary glaze; roasted potatoes with the same glaze; cranberry/pear/orange relish; stuffed artichokes with herbed bread stuffing that I made; pumpkin pie with a hazelnut pastry crust. I outdid myself this time. It was a meal to remember!
I'm into exercise (and it's a good thing) and have been active for years (I'm 64). I like kickboxing, lifting weights and other strenuous activities. It's fun to burn those calories!
I don't buy canned foods anymore because there's too much sodium in them. If I want beans, I buy them in a bag and soak them overnight. I buy all fresh produce. I love escarole because it is a dark, leafy green that you can cook (it's delicious) or use as a salad green or in a sandwich. I love all kinds of cheese. I typically have at least 5 different cheeses in the fridge.
I couldn't live without a stove!! You deserve better than canned foods! You are not a dog - take a cooking class my friend!
