No, you are not foolish! As a fellow on the AARP site wrote me about his inclinations, "I can still dream, can't I?" Of course we can dream and we are unlimited in that sphere.
I do suggest, however, that you be prepared by going over to Single & Mingle and look up the thread on dating scams. AARP has been infiltrated by the West Africa, Nigerian, Ivory Coast scammers who pose as typical AARP members on the website. They have nice pictures (stolen) of pleasant-looking middle-aged men and act as if they want nothing more than to make some friends on line. Trust, but verify if you begin an email relationship here on AARP. There are websites you can go to for more information on how to spot a scammer. Internet Romance Scams & Internet Love Scams are two of them. Pay close attention! Men as well as women, straight and LGBT can fall victim to these guys. Some of these scammers are very crude in their approaches and others are quite smooth and patient.
