I was in my local library earlier this year, and found an information sheet/application for Familywize, which issues a free prescription discount card. They are partnered with United Way, and my experience was very positive. I have high blood pressure, and take Benazipril and hydrochlorothiazide (HCTZ). I get my prescriptions at Target, where the benazpril is $10 for 3 months' supply, but the HCTZ is not on Target's discount list. Here is where Familywize helped; before, I was spending about $34 for 3 months of HCTZ. With Familywize, it's just under $17 for 3 months. Best of all, the card expires in 7 years. Since it's printed out on a regular printer, I paid my local Staples store $2 to laminate it. Their website is www.familywize.org; the savings average 17%, but they can go up to 75%, depending on the prescription, etc.. This definately should be checked out. I work part-time as a janitor at my church, and take home less than $400 a month. Most of my earnings go to rent and a 30 day bus pass, so this really helps.
