One bag, just for the shoes? Those were the days . On a 21-day cruise, my husband and I each take one large bag, a carrry-on and personal item (back pack or large tote that can be considered a handbag). One of the bags is a large rolling duffle bag - perfect for those shoes. We cross-pack so that if one of the bags is lost, we can manage with what's in the other bag. We also pack an outfit in our carryon that would make do for formal night, just in case all of our checked luggage is lost. Taking mix and match clothing is the way to go. There's no way around the tux or black suit (if you're cruise is that formal). However, for the women, Chico's sells lovely pieces that, when put together with the right accessories, makes a lovely formal night ensemble. And, the same black pants or long black skirt can be paired with other items for more casual nights.
We are lucky that the ships we sail on all have free laundry. Good luck with getting your bags there. Above all, have fun!
