I worked as a travel agent most of my adult life. There are cruise lines that will guarantee a single share. This means you are willing to share with another passenger, same sex and if the cruise line does not have another single passenger on that sailing you will get your cabin as a single for half the double fare plus taxes. Cruise lines do not match ages but will accept smoking requests. I think since almost all cruise lines sailing from the US are smoke free in the cabins this shouldn't be a problem. Do your homework and call various cruise lines and find out what their single share policy is or visit your travel agent.
