There is a world of inside information that the occasional do-it-yourself-ers have no access to, Yes, the cruise lines have great websites that make it look fun, they do it because it is cheaper for them. But by going direct you lose alot.
Any problem that pops up - you may not even be aware of until it cost you money. Cruise lines are not designed to help individual travelers with problems that are not specific to their business
If there is a problem, the travel agent knows who to contact to fix it in a timely manner and are more likely to get refunds faster for you.
