I am tired of the treadmill! I have to keep going, but it's not outdoors, with visual stimulation, happy sounds and changing vistas.
It's way too hot to walk outdoors at this time of year in Southwest FL. Some call it Paradise, it's more Dante's Inferno.
The gym provides 3 TV stations to view. I strap on my music, but nothing is really clearing my mind and allowing me to relax. Oh I miss the walks in fresh air with my dogs. Of course the dogs and I walk, but it's all business now! Even the dogs want to head back as soon as they have completed thier mission!
Share some secrets...I won't quit the treadmill since I have to keep active, I just need some encouragement! Also I am working towards the goal of walking part of the Appalachian Trail some time next summer. The real foolish part is she's young, in shape, an athelete at the Naval Academy and ol' me suggested this excursion...
The treadmill can be boring and I found a solution that works for me. I bought a television that has a CD and VHS player. It is a visual aid and the music is from the 50's and 60's I watch live entertainment and listen to great music. The tapes were ordered from The Public Television Station and I found more in the video section of Best Buy. I was walking all the time (3-5 miles outdoors) when I had a walking partner. It really requires motivation to do this on the treadmill. Hope it helps.
