In northern Illinois, in the snow and the ice. What fun can Myrtle Beach be when you could have -20 degree weather to walk around in and show what you're made of.
Gosh but, I do hear you Retired,
Give me some of that fine white partly cloudy (presently at 8") with a little slightly damp (presently 2") and toss in some 20º days with freezing electric lines and falling wires - and I become so happy and carefree. Especially when my high voltage detector shows that the wire I just crossed is still live - and I just get a warm and fuzzy feeling all over, or is it the juice that hit the rear bumper.
Two more days to camping and Thanksgiving dinner in the Western mountains of Maine (I’m foregoing the tent though) it’ll be snowshoes, toboggan and chains maybe to get in the 5.8 miles of slush, snow and/or ice. Give me a half cord of seasoned hardwood, a Glenwood 1880 cookstove, and a Lopi glass fronted wood stove, a jug of wine and my DW, 2 dogs, etc. and I should be in fine shape until Sunday. Then it’s back to work I go.
Only about 4 more things on my Honey-Do list before I can sit back and relax and let the ice grow beneath my posterior. The joy of camping in the mountains of Maine. I just can’t see traveling that far to feel a sea breeze that will afect my arthritis - much better to feel that non-damp mountain air and develop a wicked sunburn on a mountain slope surrounded by the finest crystalline structures that most have to pay to see.
Enjoy the temperate climate of Illinois - I’m sure gonna enjoy it here. Just don't forget your Sorel's.
With a ps to ML, 20º is short sleeve weather up here! Are you from Bahston or New York? .Round about 0º and below, that's when the winter coats come out.
