You are correct, Wolfthinker, ....... When I worked for the Sheriff Dept...we were constantly investigating scams.....One that comes to mind was this person who would rent a room and would use the obituary coluumn in the local newspaper to supply information of a recently deceased person,...AND the names of the surviving relatives.... He would then prepare an official-looking letterhead and send a letter to the surviving relatives stating that the deceased person had an unpaid bill of $500.00 or less.....Many times, the relatives, not knowing every detail of the deceased business and their thinking clouded by grief,....would simply send a check to settle the bill... However, the con man always had an escape route....if the relatives became suspicious and questioned the bill,....he had an apology letter ready stating that due to an office error, that the deceased's account had accidently got mixed with another account, and to disregard the former letter.... More recently, some scam artists rented an office which had been vacant for some time,,,,,and established a "New wholesale outlet " for a furniture factory in another state....and offered furniture at bargain prices.....They even had display "samples " of fine leather couches....and loveseats,,,...as well as rec liner chairs......and a large delivery truck with the "proper logo" parked outside..... Of course, customers could come in and examine the "samples " ( which were not for sale ) and order their own,.....which required payment in advance...before the furniture would be transported to this location for pick-up.... After taking several large orders, and collecting the money in advance....the scam artists vacated the premises, taking the expensive furniture samples and the money...leaving nothing except the empty building...
Wowie, the things people do. But, we do not know their circumstances, either. No, it is not right to steal from people. This is a principle that everyone all over the world knows is wrong, yet, we allow corporate hanky panky to continue.
If there is a judgement day, we have to stand stark naked in front of our Lord, be whatever name we call the One. We will not be able to fudge, hide, strive, or manipulate on Judgement Day. May we stand tall on that very day without shame. For those who thought they got away with something...may they rest in peace.
