I find that we have a couple good grocery stores that offer food for a lot less. I never go to the high end stores. I even found good 12 grain whole wheat bread for under $2.00. It is excellent.
Most grocery stores will have a couple of special bins marked "Marked down for quick sale" in their meat and deli sections - these are usually really filled the day before the next week's sale starts. You can get some great bargains in these bins - I got 1 pound chorizo for .79, kielbasa for .99, hot Italian sausages .99, ground turkey - 20 oz. for 1.29. And the Dollar Stores have some groceries, too, and the canned goods are just as good as the name brands you buy in the grocery stores - also bake mixes, pickles and relish, tea and lots of other grocery items.
