I substitute ground turkey for hamburger in a lot of the recipes and tuna in casseroles is a mainstay. Frankly, I am so darned old (72) that I am skeptical of a lot of the medical advice. My Dad ate 2 slices of bacon, 2 eggs, 2 pieces of toast with margarine and jelly every morning for breakfast and lived to be 90, active up to the end. His other meals during the day reflected the types of food that he was raised on - farm food with lots of biscuits, gravy, red meat, plus veggies and fruit.
I remember well the warnings about eggs - margarine and butter - fats - even black licorice came under fire by the diet police. Of course we need to have balanced diets if possible, but so many warnings have come and gone that they would fill a book. Sooooo - if once in a while I want to have potato chips and jelly beans for supper - I do it. And I am very healthy with no respiratory, heart, digestive, or other problems. And did I mention that I have smoked for 55 years?
