Before Medicare D reared it's ugly head I was able to access pharmaceutical companies and through Needy Meds.com get brand name drugs for a small or no fee at all because their income guidelines were much more generous than Medicare D guidelines. Now, I pay $34.00 insurance premium, and a co-pay. This allows me to get generic drugs. Should it be a brand name drug that is allowed, $$$. I make about $80.00 more than Medicare D income allows for any assistance. I did much better before Medicare D. I did discover this past winter that Needy Meds can still help some seniors that fall into the "doughnut hole". Thankfully, I don't need it yet, but should I, I know where to go.
I take one prescription and it is a generic ace inhibitor - can get it at Target, Smith's grocery store, and several other places 3 months supply for $10.00. Don't know if you could do this, but it is worth looking into - that Medicare D mess is just that - a mess!
