I've just finished making my Three Day Coconut Cake that I always carry to our Sunday School Christmas party. It comes from a late 70's - early 80's little fundraising cookbook from a church. The recipe calls for 1 - 9 oz. carton of Cool Whip: It's now an 8 oz. carton. The recipe calls for 2 - 8 oz. pkg. frozen grated coconut: It's now 7 oz. packages. Take a look at your recipes to see if you see the same trend.
Contents of most everything is less. Remember an actual #3 can of coffee? Much of the time the packaging is the same. I've always thought, eventually, someone would challenge the Truth in Advertising but we are creatures of habit.
I have read, several years ago, for every letter received it is counted that 400 others feel the same way but just won't write. This was in reference to government representatives but manufactures would probably be factoring the same to some degree. I don't mind writing and tell them I'll find an alternative or do without.
