I wanted to make sure we had a special place for those yummy treats that we always have around.. .COOKIES !
THE BEST MAPLE COOKIES
1 C. (2 sticks) butter, room temperature
1 c. packed brown sugar
1 c. maple syrup
1 t. vanilla extract
2 t. baking soda
1/2 t. salt
4 c. flour
1/3 c. granulated sugar for rolling cookies
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease cookie sheets.
In a large bowl, cream butter and brown sugar. Add egg, syrup and vanilla. Mix until well blended.
In a separate bowl, sift together baking soda, salt and flour. Stir into butter mixture until well blended. Shape dough into 1 inch balls and roll in granulated sugar. If dough is too soft to handle, chill in refrigerator for a few minutes. Place dough balls on cookie sheet about 2 inches apart and flatten slightly.
Bake in preheated oven 8 to 10 minutes, until golden. Cool on wire rack.
