hi Jody, with groceries up 50%, I too do what I can to save. It's just my granddaughter and I and I spend twice as much compared to a year ago. I hate to think how familes with children do it (fugilly I hope). But anyway give it a try and let me know how it turns out. I dry my herbs the same way (they're not cheap either). I live just west of Camdenton between Roach and Macks Creek near the lake. I lived most of my life in Des Moines, Iowa so I can't tell you how much I enjoy this country living. Keep in touch,
It's wonderful the way people share recipes and ideas on this website, Zil. Everyone of us gives a small part of our knowledge or experience to share with others interested in cooking, trying to save money, or finding a new way to prepare a familiar dish. Gene Park's recipes always amaze me & I am slowly but surely reading thru all the posts of the Love to Cook! website....I'm sure I'll find other recipes and cooks who are amazing too.
Know that Chris (the Belle) posted an interesting article about making a slurry of basil & water & freezing as ice cubes. Well, I actually just layer the basil leaves as I harvest them in a plastic container with a lid in the freezer and add to dishes as I need them....seems to work fine too. Could you share some hints with us of how you dry particular herbs?
