Cooking for the grandchildren can be a little tricky. One of our grandchildren refused to eat any meat other than ground beef. I started off by using the term ground meat which the child didn’t pick up on. I prepared the recipe below , using ground turkey but reassuring the child that he would indeed get his ground meat.
1 POUND GROUND TURKEY OR GROUND BEEF
1 TEASPOON GARLIC, MINCED
1 MEDIUM ONION, MINCED
1/4 OF A BELL PEPPER, MINCED
1/4 CUP BBQ SAUCE
1 SMALL CAN TOMATO SAUCE (8OZ)
1 TEASPOON CHILI POWDER
SALT AND PEPPER TO TASTE
FRY GROUND MEAT, GARLIC, ONION AND PEPPER UNTIL TENDER, DRAIN. ADD THE REST OF THE INGREDIENTS AND HEAT THROUGH. SERVE ON HAMBURGER BUNS. MAKES EIGHT SANDWICHES
I serve these with oven baked french fries and cole slaw.
My son loves sloppy joes so I'll have to make this for him. I just posted a recipe for a low fat, low cal desert in "healthy recipes" that your grandkids will love. Give it a try.
