ONION BRAID BREAD
1 package yeast
¼ C warm water
½ C hot water
¼ C butter, softened
¼ C sugar
1½ tsp salt
½ C milk
1 C minced onion
¼ C butter
1 Tbsp grated parmaigana cheese
1 Tbsp sesame or poppy seed
1 clove very finely minced garlic
1 tsp paprika
Dissolve the yeast in the warm water and proof. Add 2 C of all-purpose flour, the sugar, salt, the hot water, milk, butter and the egg. Mix for two minutes. Add the remaining all-purpose flour to form a soft dough. Cover and let rise in a warm place until light and double in size. Knead out on a lightly floured board, adding flour until no longer sticky. Roll out to an 18 x 12 rectangle.
Combine the filling ingredients and spread this on the dough. Cut the dough into three lengthwise strips. Roll up each strip starting with the 18-inch side, Seal edges and ends. Braid the three strips together. Place them on a baking sheet. Cover and let rise in a warm place until light and doubled in size. Bake in a 350°F oven for thirty minutes or until golden brown.
