Hi Everyone and Welcome,
I have quite a few travel memories which I will share with you and hope you do the same. My travel memories started when my parents let me go on a pre-teenage tour of the Western portion of the US, then up to the Canadian Northwest, which was breathtaking!
Then the next Summer when I was almost 16, I traveled to Europe on the last successful voyage of the Andrea Doria where I was to meet the rest of my Teenage Tour. It was upon it's return voyage when the Andrea Doria sank! The year was 1956.
I found out about the sinking while I was in Italy and tears rolled down my face. I remembered back when my parents looking at that ship as it was then docked in Port saying, "Thank God she's on a big ship like that".
During the drill, my life preserver was stuck and I couldn't get it out, so I didn't go to the drill. I too thought to myself, "what could happen to a big ship like this". In fact I said the same thing when I saw people praying one night when the seas were rough and the ship very rocky.
This was just one travel experience of many, but now I'm looking forward to hearing about your travel experiences, and you'll ind that one memory will inspire others????
