In Response to RE: WHAT MEMORIES WOULD YOU ENJOY SHARING? by hooyda12
Hi Hooyda and a big WELCOME,
I would love for you to start some Discussion and post your thoughts within my other Groups, "Issues of Vital Concern", and "For All My Frustrations" because they would be so relevant there. Just go to the main webpage for those particular Groups and click on "View All", and there you will see where you can start a new Discussion Topic.
Hooyda, many times we tend to focus on the positive, and want to forget the fact that we had negatives back then too. Just think about the movie "The Man With The Golden Arm" "Blackboard Jungle"and "Rebel Without a Cause" which depicted some of the times we lived in. Although you might be too young to have seen those movies!
While drugs were there when I was young, they weren't as prevalent as today. I lived in a big City for awhile and we were fortunate to live on a very nice street, however a few blocks away there were some rought areas too. Then in other areas of the city and it's burroughs there were street gangs.
I personally remember and walked on some rough streets in Manhattan which are much safer now thanks to New York's Past Mayor Rudy Giuliani. Some of those streets like 8th Ave were inundated with pimps, prostitutes and porno shops. While I have an opened mind, it was still very uncomfortable walking down that street and waiting for my bus. The last time I visited the city 8th avenue was fine to walk on
Hooyda, there will always be negatives, and it's important to be aware of them, because no change can occur if we can't see the problems and do something about them. Yet sometimes takes the neighborhood residents to gather together and take their neighborhoods back, and this has occurred, but not enough in drug and crime infested areas. People are too frightened to act!
What do you think in that regard, and please remember to copy and post your thoughts within those other groups, because you will receive more feedback, as there are more members participating. However, I'm also glad you are a member here too and look forward to more of your input! Shelby
