"Politifact", and "Fact Check" are great websites, as they gather misstatements from Politicians from both Parties, and no favoritism seems to be shown.
In terms of "Snopes", after forwarding emails which were NOT true, I learned the old adage "when in doubt check it out.", and I check there first.
Even when you think you know if something is true it might still be half true or false. Too many people don't care. They just forward on anything which seems believable without checking it out.
This is why Snopes or Urban Legends is so good! I just can't understand the people who would forward something if it falls within their agenda, even if it's false information, and they do this frequently! Shelby
What you say is so true! People fall in love with particular rumors or stories that are going around, and they really don't care very much whether they're true or not! Personally, I care very much! And if I read a questionable post somewhere and it seems fishy to me, I'll check it out and then post the correction if possible. I think I recently read an article in some good newspaper reporting on a study that concluded that people don't really care about the truth, they want stories that reinforce their existing views and opinions!
