To optimize your health, yes, an hour of exercise a day is recommended. If you worry about the time commitment, remember what one doctor said, "You can make time for one hour of exercise today or you can make time for 24 hours of sickness later. It's your choice."
My goal is 10,000 steps a day--a commitment that keeps me meeting my hour daily requirement and on some days a bit more.
