In Response to Resolution 2012: Are You In? by carole
Carole, I am in and ready for 2012!
The biggest change I need to make is with my attitude about food and what I eat. Fast foods and take-out have always been the easiest meals for me. They taste good and are very convenient. They also tend to be fattening and unhealthy.
That will change in 2012, as I begin preparing and eating most of my meals at home. Over the past few weeks I have collected easy receipes for slow cooker and one-dish casseroles that should make it less challenging for me to discover what happens in the kitchen. My research has persuaded me that whole foods, rather than processed foods is the way to go. I also intend to eliminate red meat and focus on fish and cheese as main sources of protein.
I recently bought a new refrigerator and so far it contains only fruit, veggies, and other 'real' food. It has clear shelves and drawers so when I open the doors I immediately see a rainbow of colors of the produce. In a sense, I don't want to 'contaminate' my new fridge with junk food. I also have a good blender so that when meal preparation is more than I want to deal with, I can toss some fruit and veggies into the blender and make a smoothie.
This should get me started, and actively participating in this online community should help keep me on the right path.
Happy New Year!
