i am a newbie to this site. i just joined aarp a couple of weeks ago. last august i found out i have diabetes that runs in my family. also i have a thyroid that does not work at all, and high blood pressure. at first i told my doctor that he had given me a death sentence. everyone in my family that has had or has diabetes has or is dying a slow and painful death. i don't want to be another one. can anyone help me get started on my way to a healthier lifestyle?
i really need help getting started. at first i lost 30 pounds. now i am starting to stray and have gained 5 pounds back! i just get so tired of eating salads and things that taste like cardboard. i just want to give up, but then i look at my siblings and think i can't give up i have to do this.
anyone out there who can help me get started on a good program and help me keep to it, i will surely appreciate it. sometimes i think i just need a good kick in the pants to keep me going.
i have read alot of peoples success stories and think maybe i can do it. then i fall back into the same old thing of eating what i want because i already messed up for the day anyway.
i will take all advice seriously and hope i can stay on track. this is my life i am talking about here. i want to enjoy whatever time i have left in happiness instead of fear everyday.
thanks to all who sees this for your help. and a special thanks to carol for giving me the courage to post my story out there for all to see.
