I love Costa Rican coffee. I visited that country twice this year but had not been particularly aware of or familiar with their coffee until I joined a couple acquaintances I made there and took a tour of the Britt Coffee Plantation.
Each trip, I brought back a 3 month supply (single person household/4 cups a day). Running out this summer in Kansas City, I phoned around the metro and found a trendy coffee source with a few retail bags of Costa Rican beans in inventory. It wasn't Britt, but was quite good and held me over til I got to Florida where I'd stashed an untapped 3-month supply.
I made a similar sort of discovery, I thought, 3 years ago on a cruise that visited Guattamala, bringing home a good supply of their coffee . But it didn't have the eye-opening flavor and mellowness of my current cup.
