After applying to many -many positions and even securing a few interviews, I can't help feel that my age of 59 is a total turn off. I'm applying to position well below my potential and would gladly work at whatever level the job would require. I've take the suggestion of removing the dates and just putting the amount of years employed and hope this will make a difference. I also had worked in this area many years before raising children and working in a commisioned position to have freedom of time. I now would love to have a designated job to report to daily and a high salary is not necessary but can't just volunteer. Any suggestions.
I feel your pain. I know that threre are companies that also want to be stupid by not thinking positive about you like they should. And there are some who even want to tun "chicken" when they see gray hair. It is also best to look at the list of companies who are age friendly and do want to hire older workers. The Mercy Healthcare system is one of those who love hiring older workers. The entire Mercy Healthcare network is a huge one and they don't bother to look at how old you are. They look af how much talent you have.
