I have spoken to some co-workers that work with the Central Transportation Department and they state that they love having some workers over the age of 50 and they want some more. So who can drive a wheelchair or push a stretcher?
Now pushing a stretcher is almost like operating a bass boat. You steer it from the back. Newer strechers have steering handles that makes driving them much easier. On the older ones, you just push the rails in the opposite direction on where you want to turn. Such as if you are going to turn left, you push the handles/rails to the right. If you are goitn turn right, you push the rails/hjandles to the left. We try to get two people on working stretchers buecause they are much easier to drive when you have two people rather than one. Driving the wheelchairs are as easy as they were back then.
