In Response to RE: Men in Black lll by Littlemite
This is shaping up to be a good summer for science fiction/escapist fare. The Avengers did not disappoint, last night I saw Prometheus, which I'll expand on in a new discussion, and Men in Black 3 was a good reboot of this series.
Will Smith (Agent J) really has the lead this time as Tommy Lee-Jones (Agent K) is killed (sort of) by a vengeful alien K had captured and put in prison (on the Moon). We don't see K get killed because the alien travels back in time to do it, and no one but J remembers there ever was an agent K.
Still with me? J has to travel back to 1969, that wonderful year, to meet young K played by Josh Brolin who captures the essence of K's cold, nasty attitude very well.
It's fun to see how the heart of our boomer years is portrayed by a younger generation of film makers. The two main characters work on another alien situation while J is trying to figure out how to save K from impending doom. Barry Sonnenfeld, the director, keeps things moving at a good clip and makes this a very fun ride.
Go see it - this is what popcorn is made for.
As a challenge/question - when J first enters the Alien Protection office at the beginning of the film you'll see a character being carried off by guards in the lower right corner. It made me chuckle, but by the end of the movie I couldn't remember who that character was. If you see it, let me know.
