DO YOUR OWN... MAKE YOUR OWN... TAKE YOUR OWN time about any and all of it. Start a small business and report to self and self alone. Tend to gardening in a club or community atmosphere. Travel near and far keeping journals and perhaps writing a book about your travels. Join up with travel groups, dinner and or social groups. Remember those old guys that used to sit in the park or near the beach playing CRIBBAGE?... that could be you! ...or do you prefer BOCCLE BALL? Whichever, it's your turn now.
WHAT's the plan in your wagon?
I’ve been retired for three years but DH just retired last Dec. Being an plan-ahead type, we’ve engaged in numerous discussions about what we want to do in this first stage of retirement together. We don’t like to travel too much, but there were a few places we hadn’t ever visited, or places we liked but hadn’t been back to for many years.
We made our list and I started the ‘working process.’ A few Exploritas group tours, a cruise, and a number of shorter driving trips – we live in the SF Bay Area which is a premier tourist destination for the entire world to visit, so there’s never a shortage of things to do locally.
So far we’ve done two of these trips and had a wonderful time! We’re about to start our third trip – a short Exploritas local trip around which we’ve wrapped 10 days in the Wine Country, driving through Napa, Sonoma, and Mendocino counties. We’re really excited and have just finished packing up the car!
We love staying home, too. World-class restaurants are everywhere, we have tons of hobbies to keep us busy, and an extensive cottage garden with two separate patios for relaxing with a glass of iced tea while we read a book – Amazon.com knows us all too well, LOL.
Hate golf, tennis, sand, beaches, humid weather, chain restaurants, and crowds, so we avoid ‘em like the plague. Retirement is wonderful, you can schedule things to avoid commute rush-hour and be impulsive about trying something new.
