Riding the Amtrak brings back happy times riding-the-rail. Once or twice every Summer while living in California, I would take one day treks to Pier 39, aka Fishermans Wharf, in San Francisco. Eating, taking in the brisk sea air and....did I say eating...L0L
Traveling alone, I felt safe on the train. Met some super neat folks and got to swap life stories. No one felt intimidated or threatened. Passengers are just having fun and enjoying the sights at a very reasonable cost.
To me, its a more personable way to travel. You have the freedom to get up and move around if desired, sit at a table and play cards or chat with someone(s) accross that table from you.
Hopefully, Amtrak will be around for many, many more years for a traveling experience not to be missed.
riding the train brings back great memories for me as a child my daddy, worked for the ''L&N railroad and we use to get free passes to ride the train i use to think it had a strange smell but as i got older i found out ir was cigarette smoke most people smoked back then, but i love the memories of riding on the train.I never rode on the Amtrak, before but i have relatives who have and if you take a long trip i heard you couldn;t shower i have to believe you would have stopovers to shower.
