I retired from state government at age 49 with 30+ years of service.
I have 3 kids and was not able to stay home with any of them except for my 6 weeks maternity leave. I really regret that as I feel that I missed out on so much but really didn't have a choice as between my husbands and my income we were always living paycheck to paycheck.
Plus you have the issue of being controlled as far as when you could take off, leave early for special events etc.....
At age 49 I was too young to just sit around and do nothing but didn't want to work full-time either and/or have to worry about when I could take off work when I wanted to.
I looked into different companies and now have my own business where I control when I work and how much I want to work. I am in partnership with a great company especially if you like to celebrate life and act on promptings plus you get to meet alot of great people.
I would be happy to tell you more if you are interested.
