You may have seen my response to a reader who wanted to drive from Chicago to Palm Springs with her dog. If you missed it, check out this link: http://aarp.org/leisure/travel/peter_greenberg/articles/greenberg_hotels_that_welcome_dogs.html
BringFido.com is a great resource for finding pet-friendly accommdoations, as I mentioned to this reader. Another helpful website is DogFriendly.com. But like I always say, nothing beats the power of talking to a human being. There may be fees associated with bringing a pet into a hotel, not to mention limitations on the size of the pet, how many are allowed at one time, or other exclusions.
Some chains are known to be pet friendly, like Kimpton Hotels and Loews. But again, always call before showing up with Fido in tow.
