Retirees are returning to the workforce in greater numbers, in paid and volunteer positions. If you want to get back in the saddle again, why? What's motivating you? What type of work are you seeking? Is it different from what you did before?
Yes, I "retired" from the Navy, but never really a retirement; I was too broke. Then I "retired" from my municipal government job at age 60. Still, I don't feel comfortable in "retirement" and want to do something useful. I have blogged on the subject of Keeping Useful on my Retired and Restless blog.
My current endeavor is to generate income from online work, including paid blogging and submitting articles for publication, completing online surveys, and working on human intelligence tasks at the Amazon Turk site. I also monetize my blog sites to generate a little passive income. I think this will take some time to amount to any real money but it keeps me busy and makes me feel like I am not just "playing" on the internet all the time.
My primary goal for income will be publishing my novel and then Memoirs. I am also working on fleshing out a new character that I may be able to work into a novel.
None of my income projects equals my monthly expenses associated with my other work: repairing or improving things around the house and yard. That has proven to be an expensive proposition. Working at the computer is much cheaper than working in the yard, let me tell you.
