"....What expectations do you have of a decent retirement, of a decent standard of living, of a decent level of medical care, of a decent quality of life, of a decent dignity in death, and a decent burial?....".
Only that for which I have planned. My kids will not provide my retirement --- I will, by being frugal and saving since my 20's. Decent standard of living --- I tried to contribute to that by owning only 1 house and not speculating and driving up prices so the next generation could afford a home. I have always driven small, high-mileage cars. I have exercised and dieted so that I could try to avoid medical care that I caused.
The resonsibility lies with the older generation that demanded over sized houses, over sized cars, ate themselves into obesity and diabetes, did not save for retirement, etc.... You reap what you sow....
It is refreshing to read about your lifelong guiding principles and sense of personal rsponsibility. I intend to keep your posting on file and share it with as many people as I can. My thanks to you. Bob Skladany
