I was Googling for my own blog "Retired and Restless" and up pops this AARP group. So...seems like a natural combination. My blog discusses Five Unpleasant Retirement Surprises, Five Retirement Challenges, and (so far) Four Joys of Retirement. I invite you to check it out and comment if you find something that strikes a note with you: Retired and Restless (If the link doesn't work here is the http://gruggersway.today.com )
Here is a sample first paragraph: Retirement Surprise Three - Loneliness is something I have never before experienced in my entire life. I’m not sure what that says about my previous life-perhaps I have been privileged, fortunate, sheltered, loved or oblivious-but I cannot recall ever having these feelings of isolation, emptiness, aloneness.
And another first paragraph:
The Joys of Retirement - the Joy of Slowing Down
I’m thinking that this will be a short post to write…since I am slowing down. I guess there are several ways to think about slowing down: slower walking, slower eating, slower heartbeat, slower sex, etc., but I’m most interested in the mental and emotional states than the physical, although the physical aspects of slowing down are real enough.
But I am trying to write about the “joy” so here we go:
Please stop by and check it out! Doug
I have only read a few of your personal blogs, but I'm impressed with your insights. I write articles and journals (blogs) for AARP as part of my work with RetirementJobs.com. We appear to have much in common and I look forward to your active involvement in AARP's Online Community - particularly in the areas of work and personal finance. I believe you have a lot to offer to the millions of people facing the same issues. I look forward to crossing paths many times in the future and I hope you don't mind if I call upon you for your thoughts and opinions.
