For those of you in the group who watch the tv show "Call The Midwife",I've just finished reading the memoir by Jennifer Worth which is the basis of the show. I really enjoyed the book, I highly recommend it. It was fascinating to learn what midwifes had to deal with in the 50's,how medical technology has advanced since then over the years. There was one chapter in the book which describes the medical condition "Sybil" from "Downton Abbey" had in Season 3 made it clearer for me to understand.
One of the other reasons I enjoyed the book, I know the characters on the show better. I never saw Season 1,started watching the show this season, episode 2. After reading the book,I don't need to watch missed episodes, feel like I'm caught up. As I mentioned in a previous post, this show caught my attention because I worked in a local hospital for 27 yrs as a pharm tech,so I have some medical knowledge.
Anybody else in group read the book? Sue
