Is anyone else as sickened as I am by the way this show exploits the sad, ill people who are desperate enough to expose their very real pain in hopes of somehow solving an extremely complex problem. I'm particularly angry at the so called therapists who 'act' as though they are treating a patient while performing for the camera which, to be fair, is what they are actually paid to do.
These hoarders are not 'housewives' or 'bachelors' or 'bridezillas' who voluntarily display their lack of character and self-respect for money or brief celebrity. They are real people who need real medical and psychological treatment and some human compassion and the producers of this show are unlikely to provide any of that in return for the money they make from the misery of others.
Sorry to rant. I'm worried about a friend and watched several of these shows in hopes of gaining some insight. In a way I suppose I did. I learned that television is not only often a mindless medium but also sometimes a heartless one.
