Maybe I go back futher than most of you do. I remember westerns on the radio. Gene Autry, Roy Rodgers, The Lone Ranger, and even Gunsmoke got it's start on radio. If you can imagine William Conrad played Matt Dillon. When it went to TV the first thought was John Wayne but you and I both know that wasn't going to happen. Wayne was the one that suggested James Arness. They had been in a movie together and Wayne thought he would be good for the part.
And while I'm at it don't forget Mavrick. Oh yes that may have been when the good guys stopped wearing white hats.
Speaking of white hats do you remember the Dodge commercials that said "The Good Guys in the white hats"?
